Book Week 2019

This week is book week and today is the book character dress up day. I didn't come as anything so Ms Oshea gave me a Mexican hat. My backstory is that I'm on a secret mission that is very important and I disguised my self to make me unrecognizable. For me, book week was fun and I enjoyed Stop, drop and read. My favourite book is a book called Shadow Magic. I recommend this for anybody who likes mystery type books with adventure.

Sick Sentences

Sick Sentences- The plane went through the sky. It was cloudy. The wind blew.

Improved Sentences-Gliding slowly, the plane soared through all the fluffy white clouds hitting it on its journey. The wind blew gracefully creating a light breeze.

These are the sick sentences that I improved. I really enjoyed being able to make these sentences come to life. A challenge I faced was trying not to overuse some words. My tip would be to keep on adding adjectives/adverbs when needed.

Showing not telling

Today for writing we were working on showing not telling. It was fun to share ideas. If you're working on this for your writing than my tip would be to describe what features change in there expression.

Telling-Rowena was furious.

Showing- Burning up with rage, Rowena's face went from the normal innocent girl to a bright red tomato. You could see the fire in her eyes as her body went solid. 

Telling- Tom was excited.

Showing- Eyes glimmering, Toms cheeks rised as he cheerfully ran into his Dads arms

Telling- Kade was shocked.

Showing- Kades face went pale as his Mouth opened and his eyes widened. 

Telling- Sarah felt sad.

A tear slowly went down Sarahs cheek as her mouth frowned.

Mt Everest Writing

Gazing up at this Humongous mountain I realize this will be my proudest moment. The howling wind was wild today and thoughts of frostbite were looking almost certain. Luckily I was prepared with the essential gear needed to make this colossal climb but I still wish I could have got a better idea on how big the mountain was but all I could see was gigantic amounts of snow and clouds surrounding the mountain. I take my first step up the mountain and then soon I was climbing towards the top.

It felt like I had been climbing forever. Freezing, I persevere and continue climbing. I had come further than my expectations which weren't that high to begin with. I was almost halfway which meant a lot to me. Above me was a roof top of fluffy white clouds. I was starving. I decided to take a break and set up camp. Rummaging through my backpack I find some bread and canned tuna. Drooling with excitement I immediately chomp down the sandwich. It felt like I just had the best meal ever but the hunger before made it hard to see the truth. Exhausted I get tucked in my sleeping bag and go to sleep. The next morning the moment I woke up I set off on my hike to the top.

I was finally at the top. Staring out at the Horizon, I was feeling like the proudest person on Earth. Those clouds that were above me before were now underneath me. I remembered  how I felt at the bottom of the mountain. The only words that came to mind were danger and frostbite,  now those feelings have left me and all I could feel was happiness, confidence and pride. I take out my flag and place it in the snow. Now, my journey was at an end and it was time to go back down and rest.

Choose day activity- Art

This week was my first session of Choose Tuesday this term. I chose to do art with Sara  which was really fun. We were focusing on lines and putting feeling in our lines. In the end we made some really cool line art. I'm really excited for the future and some stuff that Sara mentioned about to us like using clay. My goal is to get better in different art areas other than drawing.
