NZ Native Bird Talk

This week is green week and we're learning about NZ native birds so today we had Miss Best come and talk to us about them. She talked about different New Zealand birds and their predators. Some interesting facts that I learned were :

1. Kererus are able to camouflage them selves with there feathers to hide from predators.
2. Possums were originally brought to NZ because there soft fur made good cloth.
3. Tuis can pollinate flowers when they drink nectar.
4. Kererus poop out the berries.
5.  Tuis have two voices .
   

Overall I enjoyed her talk. It was really interesting.

My Holiday

The last two weeks were really fun. Me and my Mum decided to walk to Owairaka park and see the new bridge. We crossed the bridge and there in my sight I saw different types of trees with there leaves moving in the breeze. By my side there was a crystal clear stream and in the distance there was a small pukeko. As we kept on walking on the pathway we came to that big white bridge near the tunnel. As we walked over the bridge and we saw the motorway. Cars dashed underneath us from one point to another. The rest of the pathway was just more nature and birds. Overall it was really fun!

When I'm...

When I’m 11 I’m gonna be sad because of the fact I’m leaving primary in 3 months,

When I’m 12 I’ll be asking my brothers a lot about university and what it’s like to annoy them,

When I’m 13 I’ll be looking back on how far I’ve come since primary and how fast time went,

When I’m 14 I’ll buy a black cat named Luna and take a lot of pictures of it and turn them into memes,

When I’m 15 I’ll complain about my brothers not getting married yet, 

When I’m 16 I’ll study for my learner license test and pass it and I’ll tell my brothers and they’ll most likely
not care but I’ll still tell them,

When I’m 17 I’ll go on a vacation to Japan and eat tons of bowls of ramen,

When I’m 18 I’m gonna buy a drawing tablet and draw a ton of characters from my favourite anime's,

When I’m 19 I’m going to buy a car and drive around free from taking the bus,

When I’m 20 I’ll move out of the house into a dorm and live with new roommates

When I’m 21 I'll learn how to speak another language fluently and be really proud of myself.

Mercury DLO

Virtual Reality Session

Today we had a Virtual Reality session with the Peter Blake Trust teachers. They talked to us about pollution in our seas and showed us what a polluted sea looks compared to a healthy sea with some Virtual Reality headsets which were super cool. We saw different types of fishes like dolphins, sharks, stingrays, sea snakes, glass shrimps and other fishes that I don't even know the name of. We got to see different types of oceans like the ocean in Poor Knights which was beautiful because of the fact that it was a marine reserve and there was no fishing allowed there. We also got to see a mangrove which is a type of ocean that has trees in it. There were also those oceans that had a lot of rubbish and pollution which was definitely not good for the environment. At the end we talked about what we can do to keep our oceans safe. 

If you're somebody who likes marine animals and doesn't want our oceans to get polluted than I suggest you pick up any litter you find on the ground and use the 4 R's which are Reduce,Reuse,Recycle and Refuse.  

So that was basically the VR session and I just have to say that the 360 degrees view ROCKED.

Sun DLO

This is my Sun DLO. It took me a while but the activities were pretty fun.

Stargazer

Sick Sentences: The young boy was amazed to see billions of tiny glowing orbs just in front of him. He was astonished to see all this light surrounding him. Stars were definitely taking over the sky.

Adverb Sentence: Gracefully a star glided across the beautiful night sky. 

Writing: “ These stars are amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it, but something still feels wrong ” He thought to himself as he gazed at the stars. He stared at the stars. They were beautiful, but he still felt a feeling inside. It was as if there were more to these stars than just balls of light. It was getting really late and his Mum would probably be waiting for him. He walked away but just as he took his first step the stars turned red. He turned around and the sight in front of him was just paranormal. Just as he was trying to process what was happening he got sucked into the opening of the portal that opened in front of his eyes.

This is my Jupiter DLO. I found it interesting. If your doing the Jupiter poster then my advice would be to add a few different colours.
